On this faster paced ride equestrians will trot and canter into a Hawaiian forest reserve. Enjoy panoramic ocean and mountain views, sights of untouched deep lush valleys, and glimpses of fern covered canyons. This tour is not necessarily for experts, but experienced riders only please.
This fast paced tour includes trotting and cantering and brings guests up into the mountains where views in every direction will have you continually saying "WOW!!!" Each view is more amazing than the last! All riders should be fit, ready to trot and canter, be able to mount and dismount their horses and be comfortable with heights.
This ride is customized to allow for a guided meditation overlooking Mt. Waialeale. Ride with a higher level of awareness for all that surrounds you on our incredible healing island of Kauai. On this all day adventure for the spirit and the spirited, we start off at a brisk pace, trotting and cantering an easy stretch of trail. We then ride up and down the volcanic ridges and across knife passes high in the mountains, with unspoiled views of the interior of Kauai. Spectacular sights await you!
Beginners through advanced riders can learn while enjoying a horseback ride in beautiful Kaua'i. Whether your goal is to get comfortable enough to go on a trail ride, to advance to 'A level' competition, or simply to try something new, come have fun while you grow. We offer both small group lessons for adult and children ages 8 and up and private lessons for adults and children ages 6 and up.
All activities take place at the Esprit De Corps Riding Academy.
Directions:
From Lihue or the South Side (Poipu, etc.): From Highway 56 (Kuhio Highway) turn on Highway 580 (Kuamoo Road). Go 2.7 Miles. Turn Righ on Highway 581 (Kamalu Road). Go 1.6 Miles to the end of Kamalu Road. Turn Left on Olohena Road. Go 1.5 Miles. Turn Right on Kualapa Place. Go to the end of Kualapa Place. Drive down the driveway on the left in LOW GEAR.
From North End of Kapaa: Take Highway 581 (Kukui Street). Go straight through the round-about, the road name changes to Olohena Road but stays Highway 581. Go past the school on the left, Olohena Road dips to the left at Triple Fork. Remain on Olohena Road for 3.5 Miles; Highway 581 will turn left onto Kamalu Road, stay straight on Olohena Road. Go another 1.5 miles. Turn Right on Kualapa Place. Go to the end of Kualapa Place. Drive down the driveway on the left in LOW GEAR.
From North of Kapaa (Anahola, Princeville, etc.): From Highway 56 (Kuhio Highway), turn right on Mailihuna Road (just at south end of Kealia Beach). Go 0.5 mile. Turn right on Kawaihau Road. Go 3.5 miles. Turn Lef on Kainahola Road (Look for Growing Greens Plant Nursery on the right just before it). Go 1 mile on twisting road, it will end in a forced Left turning onto Olohena Road. Go one block. Turn Left onto Kualapa Place. Go the end of Kualapa Place. Drive down the driveway on the left in LOW GEAR.
All Trail Rides are limited to 5 guests, ages 10 and up.
Rides go out Monday through Friday, morning and afternoon, starting at our ranch and moving up into the mountains. We reserve the right to determine suitability of ride for trail conditions and rider's expertise. Riders must meet appropriate height and weight ratios. There is a 2 person Minimum on all rides; singles may book and we will add others to your ride.
All rides begin with an orientation lesson in the arena, and go out rain or shine; rain gear is provided. Long pants and socks are required (available for rent at a nominal charge); riding helmets and boots are required and provided at no cost. Bottled water is provided on all rides.
All horses are trained in both English and Western styles, using gentleness and respect for their nature. We have cross-breds of Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, and Morgans, as well as purebred Welsh ponies.
